Description

The track provides a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, December 12th at the ICIS Conference to hear a guest speaker and discuss issues in IS Leadership.  IS Leadership is broadly defined to include both research on IS leaders such as CIOs and CTOs, research on technological leadership in organizations, as well as research on IT governance. IS leadership sets directions, creates commitment, and adapts the IS unit to fit a changing environment. It is, thus, an enduring concern to IS academics and practitioners alike. It is an issue that should face organizations for many years because leadership has been a persistent concern of all societies and organizations. Firms that achieve sustainable IS leadership are more likely to develop superior capabilities in IS (e.g., Wal-Mart's logistics system, Sabre's airline reservation system, and Cisco's order fulfillment system) and gain a considerable competitive advantage.
