Description

The SIGLead conference invites papers on IS Leadership, broadly defined to include both research on IS leaders such as CIOs, CKOs, and CTOs, research on technological leadership in organizations, as well as research on IT governance. IS leadership sets directions, creates commitment, and adapts the IS unit to fit a changing environment. It is, thus, an enduring concern to IS academics and practitioners alike. It is an issue that should face organizations for many years because leadership has been a persistent concern of all societies and organizations. Firms that achieve sustainable IS leadership are more likely to develop superior capabilities in IS (e.g., Wal-Mart's logistics system, Sabre's airline reservation system, and Cisco's order fulfillment system) and gain a considerable competitive advantage.

Possible topics include but are not limited to:

IS Leadership

IS Technological Leadership

IT Governance

Submission Guidelines

Conceptual and empirical papers utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods are welcome. Papers should be about 4000 words in length, tables and figures included. Submissions should be sent as email attachments to Elena Karahanna by November 15th 2003.

Authors might consider using their conference paper as a prelude to a submission to the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management special issue on IS Leadership.
