Wanted to let you know that Staff Council has passed along two issues to State Wide Staff Council

(1) the issue of retirement at 25 years with full benefits and no penalty

(2) sick leave pool. This issue has come up before. There actually was some institution that was doing it and as soon as the Board of Regents found out about it, they were told to cease and desists. Anyway, the deal is some people want to be able to contribute unused sick leave to a pool for those who run out of leave for something like an extended illness. The federal government is supposedly using such a system.

Please remind everyone of the collection drive for the Athens Tutorial Program. The collection box is in Logistics.

In addition, we need suggestions for next year=s drives. I=m assuming we=ll still do the Food Bank and Toys for Tots. Chris Taylor is going to have an article on this in the next newsletter. He also asked that I remind everyone to let him have any information about anything staff are doing that might be of interest for the newsletters. I=m thinking even if someone=s child wins an award or anyone gets special recognition for some civic or volunteer organization they=re involved in or anything like that. I=d really like to see us get in the newsletter a lot more.

Also, please encourage everyone to PLEASE, PLEASE attend the staff meeting with the Dean on Friday, the 11th at 3 p.m. in Sanford 313.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 13, 8:30 in 327.
