The meeting was called to order by Sally Vandiver. There were no
corrections or additions to the minutes from the previous meeting.
Sally reviewed the Staff Council meeting. The following items were
highlights:
- New classifications will begin in July. No raise will go with
the new classification at this point.
- There will be a new loop for the Milledge bus. It will go from
South Campus to North Campus. Each member received a memo from the
Parking Appeals Committtee on how they operate.
- The staff council website is http://www.uga.edu/ugasc There are
plans to have information about legislative issues and sample letters on
the site soon.
- UGARA is a retirees association. It is mostly faculty but staff
can join too. Apparently they take you to lunch when you retire. It is
just a way for retirees to keep current with UGA affairs
- The staff council sent a letter to Adams requesting Christmas
Eve off rather than Memorial Day beginning 2007.
- A resolution was sent to Adams requesting that all staff receive
a 2% raise if the 2% raise passed through the legislature.
Old business issues were brought forward including:
- Water fountain quality. Sally took samples to Trish Smith in
Environmental health Sciences (the report came back with no signs of
bacteria. She did see some iron flecks which she assumed were from old
pipes)
- Distribution of custodian's gifts will take place at the annual
staff luncheon if the custodians would like for that to be done. Susan
Cabe is checking with her staff.
- Sally once again asked for nominations for SRG president.
New business issues:
There being no further business, the meeting was adjorned at 9:55 am.
