MINUTES
STAFF REPRESENTATIVE GROUP
December 11, 2002

The Terry College of Business Staff Representative Group met December 11, 2002 at 8:30 am in Brooks Hall, Room 327.

Members present: Stan Johnson (Logistics), Betty Pharr (Dean's Office), Marsha Richmond (ILSRE), Cindy Owensby (ECON), Ann Terka (MBA), Mary Evans (Selig Center), Billie West (MGMT)

Members absent: Marsha Dickerson (ACCT), Ellen Whitaker (External Relations), Mary Myrick (Business Office), Regina Pope (OIT), Amy Moon (Executive Education), Amanda McKasson (FINA), Brenda Graham (Institute of Leadership), Connie Autry (MARK), Cindy Daniel (Office of Undergraduate Admissions), Sara Bradbury (OIT)

The meeting was called to order by Sally Vandiver. There were no minutes from the previous meeting, something that has been overlooked in the past. Minutes will be taken by a volunteer each meeting in the future.

Stan Johnson discussed the recent break-in of Brooks Hall. He said this normally occurs around Christmas and that the entire building will have to be re-keyed since a master key was taken. He said it was suggested to close the building at 6:30 leaving only the 1st floor open for classes. He also reiterated the importance of locking office doors when one leaves their office and to take personal items home that to avoid having them stolen over the holidays.

Since there have been numerous questions about BAPS events and the role of BAPS vs. SRG, the committee agreed to invite the BAPS committee to come to the January SRG meeting to clarify the differences in the committees and to give an overview of BAPS events for Spring semester. There was a discussion as to whether a BAPS representative should come to the SRG meetings for updates each month. No vote was taken, as there were not enough members present to make that decision.

The increase in amount of money given for Staff Awards was reviewed. After discussion, the members felt although it was unfortunate for the first winners of the awards, it was well received that the Dean had chosen to increase the amount given to award winners in 2003.

There was discussion about Development and Alumni Relations and Communications becoming their own department and whether or not there should be an SRG representative for each area. It was the general feeling that this was not necessary.

There was also a suggestion to remind all SRG representatives to have a brief meeting with the departments they represent after the SRG meeting so that everyone will know what staff issues and concerns are in the Terry College.

There being no further business, everyone enjoyed Patti Orr's Holiday cookies and adjorned at 10:00.
