Elaine Merrill went to the Staff Council meeting to represent the Terry College. There were no minutes from the meeting, but she said that they filled out a survey about how to have a successful SRG. She mentioned the debate about additional staff joining University Council is on the University Council's agenda for the next meeting.
In old business, the yearly staff meeting with the Dean will be scheduled and the staff will be alerted to the time and day of this meeting when more information becomes available form the Dean's Office. Additionally, the SRG bylaws to include a chair and a co-chair will be updated by Fall semester.
In new business, Elaine Merrill brought up a concern regarding hourly employees. The state of Georgia participates in the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan (GDCP). It seems this is a mandatory retirement plan for hourly UGA employees. When the employee leaves UGA, they must fill out an application form to request their contributions to this fund be reimbursed, if they so desire. The pdf to this application is below.
