The meeting was called to order at 9:10 by Cindy Daniel. There were no corrections to the minutes of the September SRG meeting and they were approved as written. These minutes have been placed on the Terry College V Drive.
Elaine Merrill attended the October Staff Council meeting. At the October 4th University Council meeting, it was approved to have nine representatives on the University Council. One of these, the Staff Council President, will be an ex officio voting member of the University Council. The remaining eight shall be elected by the Staff Council. The staff elected to the University Council will serve three-year terms. There was discussion of future of the UGA for sale listserv. President Scott reported they have made a proposal to President Adams for a position which would take over the listserv responsibilities but have not received a response yet. It would be good to have more than 1 or 2 volunteers because it can be a lot of work for one person. The Needs and Concern Committee reports a letter was sent to the Athletic Department was there has been no reply yet. Apparently, there were some complaints about single staff members who purchased tickets for guests but the guest was not allowed into the game without an I.D. Some staff had to buy another ticket on the spot for their guest to be admitted. The guidelines say that if the faculty or staff have their ID, their guest should be allowed admittance.
A complaint was brought forth regarding the condition of the UGA parking lots after football weekends. It was suggested the concerns/complaints should be forwarded to the Athletic Department.
There was continued discussion of the web site to help new Terry College staff members. A subcommittee of Cindy Daniel, Ruth Davis and Elaine Merrill will meet to finalize the pertinent information that belongs on this web site for new staff members. There was continued discussion for the upcoming Terry staff events; BAPS Halloween; Dean's Staff Holiday Luncheon, which includes collecting of gift money for the custodial staff and the Dean's gift to support a local charity or cause; and Toys-for-Tots. Stan Johnson will check with Wal-Mart to see if they will provide assistance in obtaining helmets. E-mails and/or flyers will be sent to all Terry staff regarding all events. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
