C. V. "Jim" Nalley III has served as president and chief executive officer of Nalley Automotive Group, which operates more than a dozen dealerships in the Atlanta market. He is now chairman of the Nalley Automotive Group, which was acquired by Asbury Automotive Group, one of the nation's largest automotive retailers. The Nalley family name has been associated with the car business for nearly 90 years in Atlanta.
Nalley previously served on the boards of First Union Corp. and Russell Corp. in Atlanta and the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. West Plains in Montana. He formerly served as the president of the Metro Atlanta Chevrolet Dealers Association and as chairman of the PACCAR National Distributors Council. He also served on the Governor's Commission on Privatization of Government Services.
Along with his professional duties, he has been associated with many civic activities. He served on the boards of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the High Museum of Art, the metro Atlanta chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Shepherd Center.
Nalley has been a trustee of the University of Georgia Foundation and served as the board's chairman from 1998 to 2000. He also has been a trustee of Brenau College and the Lovett School and served on the Board of Visitors at Emory University.
He earned a business degree from the University of Georgia in 1964, where he majored in finance.
