There have been many stories in the news lately about the difficulty that young adults are experiencing in finding work, including new college graduates. While the employment rate for most of our peer and aspirant schools has remained nearly flat since the recession of 2008–2009, we have seen dramatic improvement for Terry graduates at every level. Our undergraduate employment rate has increased steadily from 46% to 78% over the past four years. We emphasize the need for students to prepare for their careers early. Now most of our students complete internships that lead to permanent employment.
Many people have helped improve job prospects for Terry graduates. Our alumni have recruited Terry students or have encouraged their employers to do so. Formal career services in the University and within Terry have helped in a number of ways. Several academic units have fostered close relationships with employers through advisory boards and annual career fairs. And our faculty and staff share their contacts with students.
Terry students see the value of their education and their degree as they begin their careers—and will continue to see benefits, just as you do. The Terry alumni network is powerful—thank you.
