On campus, we’re approaching the time of year when students are wrapping up final projects and finishing exams. Many of them are preparing for internships, summer school or to study abroad, and about 1,200 of them will graduate and start new jobs.
The end of spring is also the time of year when many of our departments host honors banquets and receptions. More than 100 top students were recognized for their academic achievements at Terry Honors Day, held April 13.
On May 14, the Terry College will hold its second Graduation Convocation, where Terry degree candidates will be individually recognized. Stegeman Coliseum will fill up with graduates seated on the floor and family and friends in the stands. Real Estate developer and philanthropist Tom Cousins, whom we featured on the cover of Terry magazine, will be the keynote speaker.
Another major rite of spring that just passed is the Alumni Awards and Gala (photo gallery). Coca-Cola Enterprises CFO Bill Douglas, Cushman & Wakefield Executive Vice President Andy Ghertner, and Weber Shandwick PR manager Mai-Lise Nguyen were honored with alumni awards. We also inducted two new members to the Pinnacle Society. Jack and Debbie Gibson are helping future students with their pledge to support the hiring of the best faculty to work at Terry.
As I’ve written to you before, there are all kinds of ways – large and small – to help our students, and they all add up to make a significant difference.
