This is a special year for Terry. The University of Georgia founded its School of Commerce – the first business school in the South and one of the first in the nation – in 1912. In recognition of our 100th anniversary, we will kick off the Terry Centennial at our annual Alumni Awards and Gala, which has become our biggest night of the year to celebrate. This year’s gala will be on April 28 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead.
On campus, we will mark the Centennial at several academic events, including the Terry College Honors Day ceremony on April 18 and the Terry Graduation Convocation on May 12, where our keynote speaker will be the college’s benefactor, Mary Virginia Terry. We will continue to celebrate 100 years of Terry with many other events throughout the year.
This is a time for looking back at our history, to acknowledge the people and programs that have made Terry a great business school through its first century. I contend that the education our students receive is second to none. Graduates leave this place with rich experiences and the knowledge to begin successful lives and careers. We would not be able to fulfill this part of our mission if we didn’t have outstanding faculty and staff. We certainly could not achieve it without the range of support we get from our alumni. The Terry College has a bright future ahead, and I thank each and every one of you for being a part of it.
