Dean's Message for Terry FYI Newsletter

Dean and Simon S. Selig, Jr. Chair for Economic Growth

It is hard to believe that I have been Terry's dean for over half a year. One of my initial priorities after coming to the college last summer was expanding and updating our communication with alumni.
For years, we have produced a showcase-quality magazine and, unquestionably, it is valuable for us to continue bringing you Terry magazine. Time after time, I have heard from alumni how much they enjoy receiving that publication.
But, as a college, we want to provide you with news of interest in a timelier manner. That is why we are bringing our electronic newsletter, Terry FYI, up to current standards and shifting its target audience to focus primarily on alumni. In its previous form, Terry FYI was a calendar-driven weekly email written for an internal audience of faculty, staff and students. That focus now changes with the web-based e-newsletter you're receiving today, and we'll continue to send you a new issue of Terry FYI filled with news and feature articles every couple of months. I anticipate that we will expand this electronic form of communication with specialized editions for other targeted audiences, including current students, prospective students and those interested in non-credit executive education.
As you read Terry FYI, you will notice that we have strong programs throughout the college. The individual program rankings are often stronger than our collegewide rankings for graduate or undergraduate programs. We are committed to improving all of our programs and assuring that our students receive the best possible education. I am also convinced that the excellence already achieved by Terry needs to be more fully reflected in the perceptions of the public. We want to assure that the University of Georgia's Terry College is more than an excellent public business school and more than an excellent business school in the South. Our vision is nothing less than national prominence.
