In mid-November, Bloomberg BusinessWeek made public its latest ranking of the “Best B-Schools” for 2010. The ranking is based on a survey ofthe companies that hire MBAs and students who just graduated from the top MBA programs. What I was most encouraged by were our outstanding results in the employer poll. We had the 10th best MBA in the country, according to employers. The only public school ranked higher on this measure was the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. For the survey, employers were asked to rate their top 20 programs based on perceived quality and their experiences with the MBA graduates they've hired. The poll results accounted for a major part of each school's total score in the final ranking (45 percent). Overall, BusinessWeek ranked us 36th in the country and 15th among all public business schools.
Our improvement in the BusinessWeek ranking is a strong indication we're producing positive outcomes for our graduates and the employers who hire them. We are more focused than ever on admitting students who are well prepared to be leaders in the corporate world and providing them with the education and opportunities to be successful after graduation.
If you'd like to know more, the BusinessWeek story leads off the headlines in this newsletter, and you can always find all of our current rankings here. I also want to briefly mention that we're starting 2011 with two new staff members in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Natalie Glenn (ABJ '02) has been named director of alumni relations, and Johnie Tucker (BSA '99) has been hired as the college's director of annual giving. We welcome them, and you'll be hearing more from them soon.
Happy New Year to all of our alumni and friends.
