I've often heard from students and alumni that they would like a more personal recognition of their graduation than can be accommodated at UGA's commencement exercises. We're now able to do that with the announcement of our Terry Graduation Convocation, which we'll host next spring.

- A student recently asked me how they can help the college achieve its vision of national prominence. That question is indicative of the attitude that I see in so many of our faculty, staff, alumni and friends. Everyone knows we have set our sights high at a time when resources are scarce. I am grateful that so many people among all of our constituencies want to help.

Mark "Dill" Driscoll has accepted my offer to become the college's first Entrepreneur-in-Residence. He will work with our faculty to expand and improve our entrepreneurship program and help create opportunities for Terry students who want to become entrepreneurs themselves. - May 2009
The end of May is a time of transition on campus, as we wrap up the academic year, bid farewell to another graduating class and prepare to welcome a new class of freshmen, transfers and graduate students. But the familiarity of that routine was thrown off kilter by the tragedy that preceded the end of spring semester. With the semester now over, we can begin to put some distance between ourselves and the memory of that tragic event. - March 2009
These are the most challenging times many of us have ever experienced. It has caused students to question what the future holds. But there are opportunities for the young people who react smartly to the changes in the marketplace. - January 2009
Rich Daniels, who came to Terry as founding director of the Executive MBA program, will have responsibility for all formats of our MBA, including the Full-Time MBA in Athens, effective Jan. 1. He succeeds Peter Shedd, who is retiring. - November 2008
We want our students to be actively engaged in a learning community. And to help achieve this goal our faculty are working with our alumni and the business community to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom. - September 2008
As students begin fall semester classes, I'm reminded that every year brings new opportunities and challenges, and this year is no exception. We have plans to continue our progress, even as we deal with a very challenging fiscal year for the state. - July 2008
July marks my one-year anniversary as dean of the Terry College. In that time, we've gone through reaccreditation, dealt with the retirement of several senior administrators and jumped head first into several new initiatives for students and alumni. - May 2008
The college's Alumni Awards and Gala provides an elegant setting appropriate for recognizing the alumni who have excelled in their careers while remaining loyal to Terry and their university. This year, we will recognize four outstanding individuals. - March 2008
With this issue of Terry FYI, we're introducing a new way for us to communicate with Terry alumni. We want to provide you with news of interest in a timelier manner than what we can deliver twice a year through the alumni magazine. That's where Terry FYI comes in.
