Ashley Austin
Ashley Austin received her undergraduate and MAcc degrees in accounting from the University of Virginia. Prior to joining the PhD program she was an audit senior in the Richmond office of KPMG. Her research area is behavioral audit, and she is an Accounting Doctoral Scholar.
Lisa Austin
Lisa Austin received her BS in Finance and MAcc from Wake Forest University. Prior to joining the PhD program she was an audit associate in the Charlotte office of PwC, and as well as an accounting instructor at Wake Forest. Her research area is financial accounting.
Ann Backof
Ann Backof is a 2003 graduate of the University of Virginia. After graduation, she worked in the Banking and Capital Markets group of PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York City. Ann returned to UVa prior to joining the PhD program to obtain a MS in Accounting. Her research area is behavioral audit.
Emily Griffith
Emily Griffith received her BBA in Accounting and MS in Finance from Texas A&M University in 2006. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, she was an auditor in KPMG’s Dallas office. Emily is an ADS Scholar, with a research interest in behavioral audit.
David Koo
David Koo received a Bachelor of Economics degree from Korea University in 2001 and a MAcc degree from the J.M. Tull School of Accounting at the University of Georgia in 2008. Prior to joining the MAcc Program, he was an analyst for the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation in Seoul, Korea. His research area is financial accounting.
Elizabeth Mathisen
Elizabeth Mathisen received her undergraduate degree in accounting from Louisaina State University in 2006 and her MS in Accountancy from Notre Dame in 2007. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program she was an audit senior in the Atlanta office of Ernst & Young. Her research area is behavioral audit.
Jason Matthews
Jason Matthews is a 2000 graduate of Missouri State University with a BS in Finance and a 2005 graduate of NC State University with a Master of Accounting. Prior to joining the PhD program, Jason was a lecturer at NC State University teaching Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting and Accounting Information Systems. Before that, he was the Chief Financial Officer of United Coal, a $275 million energy firm headquartered in Bristol, VA. His research area is empirical audit.
Wayne Nesbitt
Wayne Nesbitt is a 2008 graduate of the MBA program in the Terry College at the University of Georgia, where he majored in finance and operations management. He worked for Carreras Limited, a Jamaican firm, prior to joining the MBA program. His research area is taxation.
Steve Utke
Steve Utke received his undergraduate accounting degree from Bucknell University and his Masters in Taxation from Villanova University. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program he was a tax senior at Ernst & Young and subsequently a tax manager at LS Power Development, LLC. His research area is taxation.
