Graduate Assistantships

Current tuition information is posted at the UGA Bursar’s website. Tuition information is typically updated in May for the upcoming academic year and subject to change.

Graduate Assistantships

The Tull School of Accounting has limited funds for MAcc graduate assistantships. These awards are highly competitive and are an excellent way to finance one's graduate education. Graduate assistantships provide a stipend of approximately $6,000 (for 2012–13), an out-of-state fee waiver, and significantly reduced tuition. Recipients must be enrolled as full-time students and are employed approximately 13 hours per week to assist one or more faculty members, administrators, or instructors to perform assigned research, service, and other academic duties as defined by the Tull School.

Candidates must first be admitted to the MAcc Program to be eligible for an assistantship. All admitted students are automatically considered. The competition's initial review takes place in late February. To be considered in the first round of awards, students must submit their complete MAcc application and supporting documents by January 15 of the year they hope to begin the program in summer or fall and by September 15 for those beginning in spring. No additional application is required. The Assistantship Committee sends notification by mid-March for fall awards and by mid-November for spring awards. Previous recipients' averages were a 3.88 Overall GPA, 690 GMAT, and 3.96 Accounting GPA.

The Graduate School also offers a limited number of competitive assistantships to top incoming graduate students. The awards have the same benefits as the Tull School assistantships, but with a stipend of approximately $11,500 for the year. To be considered, students must have submitted their complete application and supporting documents by January 15.

Regents’ Out-of-State Tuition Waivers

Based on available funding, the Graduate School awards competitive Regents' Out-of-State Tuition Waivers to students who are classified as non-residents of the state of Georgia. These awards waive only the non-resident portion of a student's tuition and are based upon an applicant's academic records and the recommendation of the department. Candidates must have at least a 3.30 undergraduate GPA (3.50 graduate GPA if applicable) and 550 GMAT to be eligible for nomination. The award is for one year only. Recipients enrolled in the MAcc Program for more than one year are not guaranteed an award for the additional year.

The waiver continues for each semester of the specified academic year, contingent upon recipients earning at least a 3.50 graduate GPA on twelve hours of graduate course work. Recipients must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 graduate hours each semester while on the award. The competition takes place in late March/early April. Only candidates officially admitted to the MAcc Program are eligible for consideration.
