Facilities
Brooks Hall
Built in 1928, the building was known as the Commerce-Journalism Building before being renamed in 1974 for R. Preston Brooks, the college’s first dean. Brooks Hall houses the dean’s office, a 300-seat auditorium and over 260 faculty and staff offices. The original structure was seriously damaged by fire in 1995 and restored a year later.
Sanford Hall
Funded through private gifts and dedicated in 1997, Sanford Hall has a student lounge, academic advising center and 13 seminar rooms and classrooms with seating capacity ranging from 10 to 330. The building accommodates wireless computer access that covers all classrooms.
Caldwell Hall
Built in 1981, Caldwell Hall’s classroom technology has been upgraded to match Sanford Hall. The seven-story building is primarily devoted to classrooms and computer labs.
Terry Executive Education Center
Prominently located in the One Live Oak office complex on Lenox Road, across from Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead, the Terry Executive Education Center is the home of the college’s Executive MBA program and one of two sites in metro Atlanta for the Fast Track Professional MBA program. The center also is used for many non-degree executive programs.
Opened in 2005, the 33,000-square-foot facility spans three floors and features tiered executive classrooms, conference rooms, break-out meeting space, interview suites and offices for faculty, staff and Terry’s executives-in-residence. The second floor has a large multipurpose room for receptions, dinners and other special events, including the college’s Terry Third Thursday executive speaker series. Opening the Executive Education Center has been the most significant new development at the Terry College since Sanford Hall was built in 1997. The center serves as a hub for the college’s activities in Atlanta, connecting Terry to the Atlanta business community.
Terry at Gwinnett
The University of Georgia offers several graduate programs in Gwinnett County, including the Terry Fast Track Professional MBA and Master of Internet Technology. UGA’s Gwinnett Campus facility is located in the Intellicenter Building on Server Road in Lawrenceville, just off I-85.
Terry at Griffin
UGA’s Griffin campus, located 40 miles south of Atlanta, was established as the Georgia Experiment Station in 1888 and is the site of Terry’s newest undergraduate business program.
C. Herman & Mary Virginia Terry
In October of 1991, the College of Business Administration was renamed in honor of alumnus Herman Terry, and his wife, Mary Virginia. A Georgia native, Mr. Terry (BSc ’39) held executive positions with several insurance firms, including president of Dependable Insurance Co. in Jacksonville, which he built into a major corporation.
In 1990, the Terrys donated what was, at the time, the largest private gift in University history. That record gift endowed faculty chairs, a research fellowship program and scholarships. A year later, the state Board of Regents approved naming the college in their honor. Mr. Terry, who passed away in 1998, was an emeritus trustee of the UGA Foundation and in 1986 received the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
